Children aged 6 to 10 take part in a variety of STEM lessons and challenges using our proven learning through play pedagogy, robotics & coding kits, engineering kits and more. 2.5hr weekly lessons and challenges will engage students in all the STEM subjects, plus the STEM skills of collaboration, communication, scientific method, peer learning, and critical thinking at age appropriate levels.
The Elementary STEM League is a way for your child to learn essential 21st century skills while covering necessary curriculum to be successful in school. The program is fun, engaging and challenging. Our team is excellent at teaching STEM subjects at the elementary level with our learning through play methods. Most importantly, we’ll help your child learn to learn, and by the end of the program, they’ll love to learn!

TEAMS and DIVISIONS
Teams will consist of 3 children each, of similar age or skill levels. You are welcome to register as a team, or individually for placement on a team. Teams will be provided with all the necessary equipment, supplies and uniform for the duration of the season.
This Winter we have 2 options (divisions) to help meet your scheduling needs. Just pick the day that best suits your family. Options include:
Division A – Saturday – 9.30am to Noon
Division B – Sunday – 9am to 11.30am
There will be up to 4 teams per division.
Practices start January 14th (Div A), and 15th (Div B) and run weekly through to April 15 and 16 respectively. The final challenge and EXPO will take place on Saturday April 22 – 9am to 1pm followed by an all-team Expo from 1pm to 2pm.
Full Schedule: Your full schedule will be provided in early January. There are no practices Family Day Weekend, March 17/18 and Easter Weekend.
Each practice will consist of: lessons from our STEM curriculum; team building and leadership exercises; and experiential challenges to help them apply the lessons for deeper learning. Teams will be coached and mentored by members of the Brick Labs’ team.
FINAL CHALLENGE AND PARENT EXPO
The final challenge will be held April 22nd. At 9am students will be presented a real-world problem to solve as a team. Over the next 4 hours, they will apply all their learning to creatively solve the problem and prepare to demonstrate their solutions to family and friends. At 1pm, parents will be able to attend the EXPO.
This is a learning league. It is not designed to be competitive, but a way of challenging students to be their best. STEM is a great way to engage students in the skills of the future. In addition, we will coach and mentor them on how to be a great team member; how to effectively communicate their ideas; how to share and receive feedback; and how to be critical thinkers. We’ll help them grow their leadership abilities and learning skills. By the end of the season, they will walk away with a new appreciation of their own skills and abilities.
