Great in-school workshops will bring your learning goals to life. Students love to learn with our cross-curriculum experiences using LEGO and LEGO Spike Robotics.
We’ve curated specific programs for children in K through Grade 8, where they can use technology to apply math, science, engineering, social studies and arts curriculum.
Work Shop Topics
Kindergarten – Art around Us – Students will use LEGO to build a variety of unique art pieces. They’ll then create a garden gallery and Code and Drive (Math B11.1, B11.2) their robot to the art forms that express a specific feeling through colour and shape (Art D25.2).
Grade 1– Habitat Explorer– Students will use LEGO to create a variety of biomes and habitats. They’ll then Code and Drive (Math C3.1, C3.2, E1.4, E1.5) their robot to various habitats, explaining what is unique about each (Science B2.2).
Grade 2 – World Explorer – Code and Drive (Math C3.1, C3.2, E1.4) your bot about around a world map using the cardinal directions to identify continents, countries, water bodies and major cities. (Social Studies B3.2 to B3.4)
Grade 3 – Farming Science – Code and Drive (Math C3.1, C3.2, E1.4) your robot to identify soil types. Then code and drive the bot to improve the soil using various techniques. (Science E2.2, E2.3, E2.5)
Grade 4 – Machines & Mechanisms – Explore up to 8 different robotic devices that can each perform a mechanical function. Code each bot (Math C3.1, C3.2, E2.4) so the device performs to its task properly. (Science D2.1 to D2.5)
Grade 5 – Call the Doctor – Students will learn to navigate (Math C3.1, C3.2, E1.4, E2.3) their bot through the circulatory system, identifying and exploring major organs along the way. (Science B2.1, B2.2)
Grade 6 – Mars Rover – Students will learn to navigate (Math C3.1, C3.2, E1.4, E2.3) their bot on the surface of Mars, gathering samples and data along the way. (Science E2.6)
Grades 7 & 8 – The Da Vinci Coder– Students will learn to code (Math C3.1, C3.2, C4) a drawing bot to create a unique work of art (Visual Arts D.1)
Work Shop Formats
We can help design the visit to meet your class or school’s needs. From single class/grade events or full day schedules, our team will create a work shop program that meets your learning goals and budget.
We’ll provide 2 instructors per class and all the materials and equipment needed to run your event. Work shops can be conducted in your class, however a larger room with plenty of floor space tends to work better (library, gym).
Work Shops are best suited for a half day event, however we are also happy to accommodate 90 minute or full day events.
Work Shops are custom quoted based on class size, length of event/visit, and travel distance. For planning purposes here are a few examples:
- A half-day event in Toronto for a class of ~25 students is $725 plus hst.
- Full day event in Mississauga for 2 classes of ~25 students (one in morning, one in afternoon, same topic for both) $1400 plus hst
- 4 x 80 minute workshops for 4 classes in Toronto $1350 plus hst
